To make:
1/4 c. almonds, chopped
1/2 c. pitted dates
1/2 c. applesauce
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/4 c. honey
2 c. old-fashioned oats
1/4 c. wheat or white flour
1 c. Cheerios
In a food processor or blender, blend the almonds and dates until the dates stick together.
In a pot on the stovetop, heat the applesauce, peanut butter, and honey, mixing until the peanut butter is melted.
In a separate bowl, mix the oats, flour, and cheerios together. Add the dates and almonds, then pour the peanut butter mixture over the top.
Mix together, making sure to incorporate all of the dry ingredients. If the mixture is too sticky, add more oats, 1/4 c. at a time.
Press into an 8x8" pan.
Place into the freezer for about an hour to allow it to set.
These bars can be pretty sticky if they're not kept cool.
Make these bars to kick-start your day and enjoy the peanut butter-apple combination!
